1990   The 30-year-old singer Eurídice Carneiro Heringer is sitting relaxed in a modern beauty salon called "Thousand-and-one-night" in Imperatriz. A mixture of nail varnish, hair spray and shampoo fills the air. Her thoughts begin to wander: Since the release of a record with her band, she is getting more and more number of invitations. In Brasília, Rio de Janeiro, to political events, to churches... she has become famous. Her husband Pedro has also made his way as a pilot. Within ten years, his Taxi Heringer aircraft-taxi  has become well-known among private customers, money transports companies and politicians. The simple house they used to live in has become a villa. The fans have been replaced by central air-conditioning, the rough floors have been covered with carpets, and a swimming pool has been built next to the house. Their three children are going to the city's best private school!

Scream!

Eurídice wakes up from her dream. She is terrified. Her eyes are fixed on one point: Six anxious pairs of eyes are looking at her; six dirty noses are sticking on the large windowpane - street kids! Slowly and without saying a word the young woman rises to her feet. She does not even mind that her nails are not dry yet. She is only concentrated on one thing: Six dirty thin kids bare-footed and in shabby clothes. Somehow anxious but nevertheless aggressive, one of the older boys is standing in front of her and says: "We are hungry and want to sleep in the corner next to the beauty salon!" Eurídice makes a dash to her home and rushes into the house to speak with Pedro. Stuttering, she tells him of her experience. Her husband tries to assemble the parts of her story: hunger, dirt, sad eyes and street kids. Until now, his wife has always been horrified by these streetkids! He is just about to ask her this question when he takes a close look at her face. There is an expression on her face that he has never seen before, not even at their first date! Her eyes are shining like stars in a clear night and expression determination and calmness! Pedro feels that God must be planning something. Then, they start to organize: Six plates with rice and beans; six cups to drink, a prayer to heaven and off they go in a hurry...
This is the beginning of the PROMIC organization - Projeto Missão Criança (Children Mission Project)!

Today   PROMIC runs an office in Imperatriz; a Recuperation Centre (about 15 km outside of the city) and a the Ark lifecommunity house in the city. See also concept.
